Roles

Now

  1. Realtime Simulation Programmer

    Work

    Envision Center, Purdue University

    · West Lafayette, IN

    • Build AR and VR simulations in Unity on Photon's networking stack, for nuclear pharmacy training, manufacturing safety and mixed reality collaboration.
    • Restructured the CollabXR codebase so it would scale before its open source release.
    • Built the system that keeps animation playback synchronised across everyone in a networked VR classroom.
    • Work daily in a large shared codebase alongside both developers and 3D artists.
  2. Undergraduate Research Assistant

    Work

Computer Science Education Research, Purdue University

    · West Lafayette, IN

    • Designed and built a game that teaches the tree data structure by turning it into something you play on a dance pad.
    • Ran playtests for engagement and demonstrated it live at Purdue freshman orientation.
    • Part of education research attached to Purdue's Data Structures and Algorithms course.
  3. Programming Lead

    Leading

Special Interest Group in Game Development, Purdue University

    · West Lafayette, IN

    • Organise the programmers on a year long game project inside a 50+ person multidisciplinary club, managing around twenty of them directly.
    • Own project integration, the GitHub workflow, and code review on everything entering the codebase.
    • Run workshops on software engineering practice, mostly design patterns and inversion of control.
    • Coordinate with the other discipline leads to keep art, design and audio moving with the code.
  4. Embedded Controls

    Leading

IEEE Autonomous Racing Team, Purdue University

    · West Lafayette, IN

    • Lead the embedded software for an autonomous racing vehicle entered in the AKS Purdue Grand Prix.
    • An ESP32 talks to the central processor through a ROS 2 environment running in Docker.
    • Most of the work is safety and reliability: motor control that behaves, and emergency behaviour that fires when it should.

Earlier

  1. Computer Architecture Teaching Assistant

    Leading

    Harker Upper School

    · San Jose, CA

    • Taught logic gates, Karnaugh maps and Von Neumann architecture to a class of 20, working alongside the course teacher.
    • Sat with students one on one to debug their work, during class and after it.
    • Programmed the EEPROMs and handed out the integrated circuits and materials the course ran on.
  2. Project Producer and Lead Programmer

    Work

National High School Game Academy, Carnegie Mellon University

    · Pittsburgh, PA

    • Built two original games in specialised teams of programmers, artists and sound designers.
    • As producer, set the objectives and deadlines, ran playtests, and reported progress weekly.
    • Kept the codebase in good shape and resolved conflicts inside the group.
  3. Machining Director

    Leading

FIRST Robotics Team 1072, Harker Upper School

    · San Jose, CA

    • Led a subteam of 15+ machining aluminium and polycarbonate parts on CNC, delivering a finished robot inside the six week build season.
    • Ran the summer camps that brought new members in, and worked with teams from other countries at competitions.
    • Learned most of what I know about splitting work across a large team under a hard deadline here.
